Career Connections Appointment

NIU Career Services can be invaluable to your career direction and future employment. Get to know all that we have to offer you from your first days at NIU through graduation (and beyond). In this 25-minute appointment, you’ll meet a Career Services professional and find out all about the services, events, and resources available to you for exploring career options, finding an internship, and landing that first job after college. UNIV 101/201 instructors are encouraged to make a Career Connections appointment a class requirement or extra credit option.

Career Counseling

These longer (50-minute) appointments can be customized to meet your needs. At this comprehensive session, we can cover choosing majors and careers, taking career tests, building workplace skills, planning a job/internship search and much more.

LinkedIn Profile Review

A LinkedIn profile can be more important than a resume. We offer 50-minute appointments in Microsoft Teams where you can review your profile with our expert staff. For help using LinkedIn, visit the Career Services Blackboard Learning Lab (under Organizations) or attend a workshop.

Mock Interview

Have an interview coming up, or looking for feedback about your interview skills? Schedule a 50-minute mock interview with a career advisor. We’ll customize the session to your specific situation. To practice interview skills on your own, without feedback, explore additional interview resources. 

Resume Review

We offer a limited number of 20-minute resume review appointments in Microsoft Teams. Before scheduling your appointment, learn about resume writing at the Career Services Blackboard Learning Lab (under Organizations), attend a workshop and use our sample resumes and handouts.
